PDO threads are hypodermic needles preloaded with a PDO absorbable suture. PDO stands for Polydioxanone a substance that has been used for many years in surgery for biomedical applications, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery. Why? Because it is fully absorbed within 4 to 6 months & doesn’t create any scar tissue. The foreign body stimulates collagen production and the skin structure created by the threads will last from 15 to 18 months.
The procedure consists of insertion of the threads under the skin, there is no downtime, and minimal (if any) discomfort.
There are different types of threads, some are barbed and used to create an enhanced lifting effect. Smooth and twisted threads are used to stimulate volume. These threads can be placed in almost any area of the face and neck, different threads and methods of placement will allow Dr Jennifer to achieve ultimate results in the area(s) treated.
PDO threads are the perfect complement to fillers and anti-wrinkle injections and offer additional lifting benefits in areas such as jaws and lower face where fillers are not always recommended.
